The greats.....

If I had to live my life like someone it would be like these people.........

If you have still not got a clue about what they did, they made people laugh like hell, made them happy for the 40 bucks they gave for watching a DVD and thats how I would like to be someday. Well some of these people like jackie gleason, chaplin and our very own nagesh suffered in their early lives before they established themselves. I guess being comical despite immense sorrow is a tough job and hats off to these guys who revolutionised comedy in movies. I must have forgotten some more greats..But watching jackie gleason last week on hallmark prompted me to write this stuff...

As Matt Le Blanc (Joey in Friends) quotes - "In comedy, you have to be unafraid to hang from the tree branch naked in the high wind and you have to be absolutely unafraid to look ridiculous and silly." ..is highly accurate...

"Goddess" turned into Demoness - :)

They built a temple for her, They named their soft idlis after her and now they are throwing stones at her. I am of course referring to the treatment meted out to Khushboo by the people of Tamil Nadu.

What did Khushboo say?
Khushboo had reportedly given an interview to a magazine in which she had said it was fine for girls to indulge in pre-marital sex after taking precautions to keep unwanted pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases at bay. Later, she justified her statement by saying no educated man could expect his partner to be a virgin.

Yes she would have said so from her past experiences...But saying it in a state where college students were banned from wearing trendy cloths just a week ago is a goof up.

It wouldnt have mattered had it been Bangalore or Delhi. But it matters because she said it in Chennai which is filled with hypocrites who stare at girls wearing tight jeans and then scorn them.

What I am trying to say is that my neighbour's daughter is going to have premarital sex because Khushboo has said it's natural. She is going to do it if she wants it and nothing can stop it.

Secondly Khushboo has recommended condoms/other measures which is nothing but a good message. Well she was a woman of today who spoke her heart out to people who live in the past.

The losers finally turn out to be the fanatic tamilians who built a temple for her.

The urn returns to the Queen...

The heroes...

Weathering Heights!!

Chennai is truly changing nowadays.....It is playing host to one of the worst climatic fluctuations.

Here is a description:

Sunday Sep 25,2005 : 6.30 AM. It is raining cats and dogs....

8:00 AM : It stops raining...The sun comes out...

10:00 AM : It is just 35 C but just walking about drenches you in sweat

1 PM : The heat is unbearable while I come to know that it is raining in Anna Nagar...

Well I guess that elucidates my point. I was travelling in a cab from my house to shollinganallur. It was hot and humid till adyar. When I cross Perungudi there is a temporary relief from the sun but the Sun surfaces at Thoraipakkam.

Worst of all my friends and I freaked out to witness a phenomenon called 22 degree halo at Marina Beach on Saturday Sep 24. At about 9 PM the full moon was surrounded by a exactly circular patch of clouds. We wondered whether a tsunami was due but the next day's Hindu article revealed that it was called a 22 degree halo..and blah blah...

Heres a pic of the same..

Anyways Chennai's weather is becoming inconsistent...nor is the meterological department too sure about its reports..

England's way to glory!!

The last test has started with england as clear favourites. I wouldnt say that the first day was disastrous. I expect england to score 400 and then bowl out australia. Pressure will be on Flintoff and Harmison to get quick wickets. Lets wait and watch. I am keeping my fingers crossed because I feel england has a fair chance to draw the match to clinch the series.

My first trivia blog!!!

I have planned to use this space also to post my trivia questions. Here is the first!!

Connect these pics.

Answers will be available in the comments to this post!!! Plz do try out this Q!!

Latest Additions to my room!!

Well the most prized possession in my room currently is Apple ipod which was given by my brother. It boasts of a superb interface, smooth sexy buttons and an amazing quality of music. The only drawback is that it it slightly bulky and its LCD screen is vulnerable to get scratched easily.

Ipod definitely stands out from other mp3 players such as those from creative and sony in terms of the sound quality and interface but the battery life seems to be poor. I have downloaded about 10 G songs on the same and I admit I am getting addicted to it..

Another new add on in the BSNL broadband connection netone which I have plugged in to my laptop. They provide a ADSL modem which you need to connect to your phone line. It is connected thorugh the ethernet port. So remember you will need a NIC card. Connect is instantaneous and it says that speed is 100 Mbps when we log in.:)..

Maximum download speed I have seen is 90 kbps which is much decent than a 4kbps dial up. But on an average I get 45 kbps. There is a clause that the total content I can download is 1 GB per month and there is an extra cost for every 10MB download.

I would say that BSNL broadband seems to be a good offering...

Sweet Movie - Stuck on you!!

This is once again a funny and nice movie from the same guys who gave us Shallow Hal and There's something about Mary - Farrelly brothers. This movie is quite decent, funny and nice to watch. Matt Damon and Greg Kinnear play the lead role and have done a neat job.

Bo (Matt Damon) and Walt (Greg Kinnear) have been joined at the hip since birth, and, since they share a liver, there is danger associated with an operation. So they stick together, and muddle through the difficult and embarrassing times. One day, Walt decides that he's no longer happy flipping burgers in Martha's Vineyard. He wants to go to Hollywood to become an actor. Bo isn't excited by the idea, but, since he doesn't want to hold his brother back, he agrees. Walt's initial forays into the thespian world are disappointing, but then he meets Cher (lampooning herself and her image). She's trying to get out of a series she is contracted to appear in, and figures that if she makes a conjoined twin her co-star, the producers will shelve the program. But the strategy backfires. The series is a hit, and Walt is a star. Unfortunately, his brother's success is Bo's failure, and things get worse when his Internet girlfriend, May (Wen Yann Shih), discovers he has been lying to her. Now, all Bo wants to do is go home, but he can't do that as long as he is connected to Walt.

One of the nice dialogues is when the brothers sunbathe with lovely eva mendez on the beach and she asks why they didnt opt for a plastic surgery to seprate them. Then Walt replies that they both share a liver and Bob owns most of it and doesnt want Greg to suffer consequences of a surgery. It was funny but yet touching...

Watch the conjoined brothers share their fortunes and troubles!!

Bachelors!! Where art thou?

Having surrounded by eligible bachelor friends, I am suddenly facing an unusual situation where these traitors around me are getting hitched everyday. Well there was Pipes some time back stating how he met the dream girl..Then comes Renu my childhood friend and yesterday was Badri another schoolfriend...Whats got into these people? Whatever happened to independence, irresponsibility and the so good bachelorhood? What had turned sour? As for me while I am blogging this, my parents would be searching for eligible mudaliar girls..Well I did get advised by everyone recently that I was at the right age to get married and in an year I would lose the right age..I am searching for a reason to get married..Well before that comes the million dollar question - Am I ready for this??...Well a friend told me that you never will be ready...and you will learn to adapt as things happen just like it happens everytime..I find dramatic changes in my brother/Pipes post engagement...They seem to have become more mature and responsible..Well if marriage is the reason for positive changes in a man, then I think I should also join the bus!! I hope I will soon.!!
