Golden Words From the Hustler!!

Last weekend saw me fully busy with preparations for a family function. Just in between I managed to watch a bit of a nice movie called "People Vs Larry Flynt". Larry Flynt is of course the owner of the famous porn magazine Hustler. This movie is about him facing accusations of disrupting decency and corrupting the minds of so called "decent" citizens.(who are invariably damn hypocrites). This movie tells about the struggle Flynt undergoes and how he fights back against the oppostion.

Here is a particular scene where he defends himself by saying - "...ask yourself the question, what is more obscene: sex or war?" He explains that murder is illegal, but if you take a picture of it you may get your name in Time Magazine or maybe win a Pulitzer Prize. However, he continues, sex is legal, but if you take a picture of that act, you can go to jail. The question of which is more obscene is even more arresting considering the consequences of each.Well I will leave you to think about it..Dont miss Woody Harrelson as Larry Flynt...He has done a decent role which won him an academy nomination...

beware of jack and jill

James patterson doesnot fail to impress again after "Kiss the girls" with his Alex Cross novel - "Jack and Jill". Got it for 70 bucks at the book fair..

James Patterson continues to amaze me. Having recently began reading his material, I am enthralled with his story telling. Jack and Jill is a masterpiece thriller worthy of every suspense fan's attention. Not one, but two storylines will leave you flipping from chapter to chapter in no time.
Someone is visciously mudering young black children in the neighborhood of detective Alex Cross. There are no leads but Alex is determined to find the killer. At the same time a pair of stalker-serial killers known as Jack and Jill are preying on the powerful and famous in Washington D.C. When it becomes apparent that the killers have their sights set on the president, Cross is aked to help. He becomes determined to not only find Jack and Jill but to find the child murderer on whatever spare time he can afford. Cross is burning the candle at both ends and he doesnt have much time to save the president and capture the killers. Both plots progress at a fast pace. Cross' determination and excellent detective work shine and he in time finds the killers, but is he too late. As with ALONG CAME A SPIDER Patterson keeps you guessing until the very end and there is no shortage of surprises.

Both of the story lines could have a been books unto themselves. The fact that Patterson weaves them into a single novel is a testament to his craft. A stunning ending clinches JACK AND JILL as a five star thriller. The ending will keep you guessing which is nice for a change. Patterson seems to realize that a real thriller, like real life, doesnt have an ending with no loose strings. This book will keep you wanting more James Patterson and More of his heroe Alex Cross.

My sentiments are exactly echoed by the review above found at amazon.com. Its really a nice book and keeps you glued.

Coincidentally Jack and Jill is the code name for the US President and First Lady used by the US Secret Service.

This movie's promo was cute!!

Folks,if you have been watching high voltage drama or action packed adrenaline pumping thrillers or emotional drainers here is something which will tickle your ribs..MADAGASCAR from DREAMWORKS..
Here is the plot........

New York's Central Park Zoo's main attraction--Alex the Lion (voiced by Ben Stiller) and his best friends Marty the curious zebra (voiced by Chris Rock), Melman the hypochondriac giraffe (voiced by David Schwimmer) and Gloria the motherly hippo (voiced by Jada Pinkett Smith)--are pampered beyond belief. They enjoy lavish meals and have their own park views. In other words, they live in blissful captivity. But Marty isn't as content as his friends. He yearns to live in the wild, and when he makes an attempt to see this wilderness firsthand, he inadvertently drags his friends into his wild scheme. Soon the animals are darted, captured, crated and put on a ship to Africa to go live in their natural habitats. Add a quartet of renegade penguins looking for their own wild time and you've got yourself an Animal Planet special. But when the penguins stage a mutiny, the four crated pals get accidentally knocked off the boat. They suddenly find themselves washed ashore on the exotic island of Madagascar, with the jungle all around them. No daily shows. No adoring fans. And, especially, no steak served on a silver platter. There is a gaggle of dancing lemurs, but that's about it. ....and the FUN STARTS...

The long wait is over for the Barmy Army!!! - and me too..

Years I have spent supporting the english cricket team in vain....hoping the team would one day hit back at its critics...I have been mocked for my unyielding support for the english team..For the first time they have come back for good...Following the haunting defeat in the first match, england notched up a deserved victory against the resilient aussies..David bringing down Goliath...David came in the form of Flintoff in the second innings who gave a rock solid display of batting and bowling...it was emotional to watch harmison bring down clarke and kasparowicz finally..My cheers were echoed by the barmy army on televsion who were awesome..One of the most incredible matches I have watched..Hats off to the english team...aussies beware!!

These housewives are amazing

One serial I recommend

After watching too much of sex and the city, I wanted a real good change. And there came Desperate Housewives which won an Emmy recently. Teri Hatcher is simply superb in this series.

Out of nowhere, suburban housewife Mary Alice Young takes her own life, then narrates the events that follow for us. The focus is on her four friends; there's man-hungry single mother Susan Mayer, ex-career woman and now mother of four Lynette Scarvo, Martha Stewart-on-steroids Bree Van De Kamp, and Gabrielle Solis, who has everything she's ever wanted but still can't find happiness. From her heavenly perch, Mary Alice sees all and offers her own twisted take on the weekly goings-on.

This is how the drama goes...saucy and funny...

Back after a hiatus!!

Thousand apologies for throwing the blog into the attic for a while..I had been questioned by a few folks aorund me regarding the same...

Lots of events have happened to me and also in this strange world ....We have a tenth planet, a flooded Mumbai, a shocked London City and a shattered English cricket team..As for me I have sold my desktop and got a new laptop..I have bought a few good thrillers and a new formal shoe from Gaitonde...And I havent checked my weight...Hope I dont get a nasty surprise..

Almost with all the strange events happening around me , every day seems the same to me..It does seem strange to me...There is nothing right which makes my life very very interesting...Probably I should learn tai chi or salsa or the guitar....]

I will be back with more thoughts from my convoluted mind....
